19 Kids and counting

I love reality TV. 19 Kids and Counting is just one that I follow. I was watching it last night and Michelle (the mom) said something that I could relate to. She was talking with the Dr about Josie. Josie was born at 25 weeks and is in the NICU. The Dr said she was below the curve on her weight and that they were supplementing Michelle's breastmilk with formula. Michelle commented that her breastmilk was like skim milk and that she had small babies until they started eating solids. I am the same way. After Jasper was born it took him about a month to gain back his birth weight. My Ped was not worried but everything I kept reading said he should have gained it back in 2 weeks. My husband and his family were worried but no one in my family ever worried because the babies on my side of the family were small like Jasper. I am glad that I trusted my instinct and did not worry about what the numbers were. Jasper was and is a happy baby and never seemed like he needed any thing more than what I was providing. Jasper is not a fat baby and my ped says she prefers it that way. I am so glad I am able to use someone that I already trusted so much to be Jasper's Dr. Jasper may not be in the upper percentiles in weight and height but to me he is just perfect.

We started cereal at 4 months which was earlier than I was planning but he was reaching for food and even though we were told to start it earlier he never wanted it until about 4 months. Now he eats like a champ and I can not wait to start 2 feedings after he turns 6 months! We have also found out that he does not like prunes. He eats a couple of bites and begins to spit it out and cry. It is so pitiful.

Everything is coming up roses and daffodils

Sorry I have not posted anything about Jasper but I would also like to give everyone a chance to learn more about something that I care about. While I was at Auburn, I became a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority. It became a part of not just the things I did around Auburn but it became a part of me. I try everyday to uphold the standards that were taught to me. One of these things was charity. AOII supports juvenile arthritis research and here is a link if you would like to donate. They have made it very easy! Thanks!

Such a big boy!

It amazes me how fast Jasper is growing up and achieving different milestones. I am so glad that he is now learning to play by himself. As much as I love playing with him, it is nice to be able to do things without having him attached. He is kind of a high maintenance baby and I wouldn't change it for anything.

When we were on our way back from Wal-mart today and of course he is in the backseat. The carseat is not his favorite place to be so I usually spend short car rides talking to Jasper since that helps keep him calm. Today I was more afraid of a screaming trip home because he had gotten fussy as we were checking out. I loaded the truck and snapped him in, pulled out of the parking lot and began to hear coos, ahhs, shrills, and screams from the backseat. He was playing with his carseat toys and talking to himself. If I only knew what he was aying. It was the sweetest thing I have ever heard. I am sure it will only get better but it is the little moments that makes being a mom so rewarding.

Congrats!!

I am so excited to let everyone know that my sister got into pharmacy school at Samford! I am so proud of her. She has worked so hard in high school and college to achieve this goal. I am also glad that I will have someone else in the medical field in the family. She is so smart! Congrats sister!!

Jasper loves his jumperoo

Jasper in his snowsuit

Jasper's first snow (that he was awake to see)

eating carrots!!

I guess I forgotten all about my blog for the last month. I haven't been any busier than usual I have just forgotten.

Jasper is getting bigger by the day. He is now eating about 2 Tbsp of cereal and a whole container of a veggie a day. He loves his veggies. I have a whole bunch of pictures to post but I will try to do the most important over the next couple of days.

We are now dealing with our first cold. The bad thing is that the cold is not just a cold it is RSV. If not taken care of, many babies end up in the hospital. He is doing better so far, so cross your fingers he continues and we will not have to make a trip to the NICU. You would never know he is that sick if you saw him. He is still happy all day and playing. He just sounds cruddy.
